You know, as often as I've seen and used these this is the first time I've noticed that it looks like a horseshoe! You've made me see something old in a new way today Adrian. :) I'm going to make a request of you now. Would it be possible for you to somehow use that artistic temperament of yours to photograph some sailor knots? I used to watch my uncle tie them after he came in from fishing and to me they are beautiful.
